Hi,
It is said ‘Change is inevitable’ and so is the case for me today. I really don’t want to say good bye, but for personal/professional reasons I’m moving out of Infy. It’s going to be quite a change. It is really difficult to comprehend that 10 years(Dec'97 -Oct07) have been passed ,The overall Journey has been Great and between new moon to new moon------------Joined on new moon day and moved out on new moon day)
There was so much value-add from a work standpoint as well as an individual that I cannot forget the time I spent in this Company. Thanks to all my Nordstrom/ConAgra/Amex/Wachovia  colleagues and Infy colleagues for this opportunity and experience.

Really sorry for burdening you all with this lengthy email but as a true Infoscian, I cannot resist from trying to make things better. Please don’t try to kill me after you finish reading this mail :---)
Please accept apologies and my this honest mail with honesty and integrity.

We all are Sub ordinates and/or Bosses at most of our tenure. It is preferable to understand the both ends of the coin.

As Bosses

*   Try to understand that  ‘boss, sub ordinate’—are simple roles/names for performing different kind of jobs-no one is inferior to another
*   Don’t take your subordinates for granted.Respond to their mails as soos as possible
*   Sub ordinates’  time also as important as your time, please ask for their time/availability before you jump to their cube or call them to your cube
*   Practice what you Preach —If you ask employees to come to office by 8:00, be in office by 7:55. If you ask employees to wear ties-remember that you are not exempted from the rule either.
*   Sub ordinates responsibility is your responsibility-There exists a father –son/daughter relationship.
*   ‘If I hit my son, he cannot respond back as he is my dependent’-But I should not think that I am Superman as my son cannot fight back. He is depending on me, if I shout/hit, he will not respond back even if he is 100 % right. Please don’t shout on your subordinates to show them that you are their boss, they know that already. By shouting on them you are losing the faith and respect that they have for you.
*   Don’t force people for non-official things. Long back, there was a discussion where a person, initiating social work activities, said he was forced by his boss. Please remember that your subordinates are cursing you and laughing at you, discussing with lot of people about you in your absence(which you may never be able to notice)
*   Don’t succumb to your subordinates’ pressure, if they are incompetent and don’t show Infosys IQ.
*   ‘If an employee resigns, don’t check what company he was in, check with whom (which manager) he was working’. A lot of the creamy layer is resigning from some teams and we have to closely observe the pattern.

As subordinates

*   Please understand the pain points (priorities) of your bosses, discuss with your boss once in 2 months period and act on them (as long as they don’t conflict with the client work that you are supposed to complete and where you are really billable). Please be honest to your boss and explain your constrains for not carrying out his orders.
*   Try to be honest and competent, so that you can discuss in the Appraisal/CRR confidently with facts and figures. Do not be surprised at your appraisal outcomes.
*   If there is no opportunity to grow in your project, show something in your project—try to discuss with your boss and work on creation of tools, BoKs. Participate and encourage KT sessions etc…
*   Even if you deserve a promotion fully, do not push for a promotion. It is not your responsibility. In Infy, a lot of people have started a slogan—“If you don’t get a promotion-you are not incompetent, your boss is incapable”
*   Come out of the rat race, there are lot of things we need to concentrate-Try to grow from inside
*   Add value to yourself (thru external and internal certifications related to your job, grow strong in your domain area, application knowledge for a better customer satisfaction).A day is not wasted if a value is made to yourself
*   Whether Infosys is 10,000 or 200,000 employee strength, you always report to one boss. So, do not blame company size for your problems.
*   Your duty is your responsibility, you need not to worry whether it is noted/recognized  by your boss ,there is God, believe me, who will track all your actions. People cannot cheat Him. HE definitely will not help ‘KAM CHOR’s in the long run

As an Individual

*
Please be honest  you may lose somethings ,but remember that you are creating a better world. And you will in the long term(Believe me I am telling you this with 14.5 years of experince and Success)
*
Don't look for short term gains , you are spoiling the world(that includes you and your next generations)
*
Never even encourage dishonest action and don't laugh at indiaviduals and thrash their efforts who are trying to change the world
*
Everybody(including me)  --Please Sit, Relax and Think, how honest you are...forget about the world,,, and  test your score in front of GOD
*
Be courageous(Courage stands Alone)
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
when the road you're trudgin seems all uphill
when the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile ,but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest,if you must-but DON'T YOU QUIT

There is no doubt that this is one great company, which I am proud to have been part of. I wish you all the best and a very happy life ahead.
